For 25 years now, my thoughts on faith have been shared from pulpits, in community presentations, through academic papers, in weekly newspaper columns, and more recently, through frequent posts on social media. This space seeks to provide a single, accessible location from which to share the core ideas and principles that continue to shape my own life and ministry.
I grew up in the small town of Alamo, TN and attended Freed-Hardeman University earning degrees in English (BA) and Ministry (MA). As a lifelong learner, I have engaged in various book clubs, writing groups, retreats, lectureships, and workshops through the years which have served to shape both my writing and my faith.
In 2004, I began serving in full-time ministry with the Lebanon church of Christ in Dresden, TN in 2004 and have spent the last twenty years working and worshiping alongside this great congregation. I am also blessed to speak and teach frequently in midweek Bible studies, senior living devotionals, summer preaching series/lectureships, and at special gatherings throughout our area.
Ann Marie (Williams) and I married in 2016. Ann Marie, who earned her MBA from FHU, works in finance for local government and volunteers as an advocate for reading/literacy causes. She is well-known in the online book community as annmariereads.
We currently make our home on the family farm where Ann Marie grew up just outside Greenfield, TN, and we enjoy spending time with our four young nephews and our black cat, Buckley.
